employee allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 9 lakh for clearing funds for the construction of a
sewage treatment plant
in
Mothrowala
went viral on social media, the official was suspended by the government late on Friday.
In an order issued by the government, it was mentioned that during the suspension period, the official would be attached with the office of
Chief Engineer Jal Sansthan
The video purportedly shows
Imran Ahmed, an engineer who is in-charge of the plant, taking bribe from the contractor handling the project. He is even heard saying that the money would be distributed among the other senior officials, including the managing director.
Talking to TOI, Bhajan Singh, MD of Peyjal Nigam, said, " We have initiated an internal probe into the matter. Further action will be taken if the allegations are proven to be true."
