DEHRADUN: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced its candidates for the two remaining

constituencies of Tehri and Doiwala

.

The party has fielded former Uttarakhand Congress chief Kishore Upadhyay, who joined the BJP just two days, from the Tehri seat and Brijmohan Gairola from the Doiwala constituency.

The development comes a day after the incumbent Tehri MLA Dhan Singh Negi joined Congress. Notably, Upadhyay has won the Tehri seat twice in 2002 and 2007.

The Doiwala constituency, from where the party has fielded Gairola, is currently held by former state chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, who has announced that he wouldn't contest assembly elections.

Besides announcing the names of candidates for Tehri and Doiwala seats, the BJP also released a list of 30 star campaigners for the Uttarakhand assembly polls.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to lead the poll campaign for the saffron camp, the other star campaigners include home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh and BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will also campaign for the BJP in the Himalayan state.

The rallies of these star campaigners will be organised across the 13 districts of the hill state, which is scheduled to go for polling on February 14.
