DEHRADUN: An Indian Army jawan was found dead in his hotel room near Dehradun railway station on Sunday.
A native of Surguja district in Chhattisgarh, the Army jawan was currently posted in Chakrata town, located on the border of Dehradun and Uttarkashi district.
According to police, the jawan was staying at a hotel in Lakkhibagh area since November 27.
“On Sunday, the jawan did not come out of his hotel room till afternoon, after which the hotel staff knocked his door repeatedly but there was no response from inside - which prompted the hotel staff to inform the police,” a police officer said.

Later, the door of the hotel room was opened in the presence of police and cops found the jawan lying on the floor inside the bathroom.
“He was taken to Government Doon Medical College Hospital where he was declared brought dead by doctors,” the police officer added.
Police also allegedly recovered a number of liquor bottles from the hotel room where the jawan was staying for the past five days.
Police officials suspect that the jawan was consuming excessive alcohol during his stay in the hotel.
The body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of his death, police said.
