AIIMS-Rishikesh busts man posing as doctor, hands him over to police

Dehradun: The administration of AIIMS-Rishikesh apprehended an individual posing as a 'doctor' on Tuesday morning, sparking concerns about potential illegal activities related to healthcare services and patient manipulation. The impersonator, who was found in possession of a stethoscope, was promptly handed over to the authorities.The security team of AIIMS first spotted the 'fake doctor' and immediately alerted the institution's administration. Claiming to be a neurologist affiliated with the institution, the impersonator, identified as Sachin Kumar, hailed from Uttar Pradesh and sported a badge with his name."Interestingly, records of 80-odd IPD and OPD patients, who have visited the hospital in the past, had his mobile number. He also conducted transactions, including significant sums like Rs 50,000 and Rs 70,000, using his mobile phone," Harish Thapliyal, senior public relations officer at AIIMS, told TOI. Two witnesses testify in Rishikesh murder case

Two key witnesses, an electrician and a police constable, have given their statements in the murder case of a receptionist at a Rishikesh resort. The electrician stated that he did not encounter the victim on the days she went missing, despite being at the resort for maintenance work. The police constable revealed that no fingerprints were found in the victim's room, but certain items were discovered in the accused's room. The court has also scheduled the next hearing to investigate the last guest at the resort.

Encroachments around AIIMS removed

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) conducted an anti-encroachment drive around AIIMS, following a report published by TOI on pollution sources around the institute. The NDMC removed hawkers and vendors from the area. The drive was carried out based on recommendations submitted to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) by the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) to address air pollution issues impacting patients and staff at AIIMS. The NDMC report highlighted issues such as traffic management, encroachment, absence of green belt, solid waste management, and dust management at surrounding construction sites.

Rafting season in Rishikesh begins; fares to rise by 20-30%
