67-year-old man in Uttarakhand dies after drinking toilet cleaner stored in water bottle

DEHRADUN: A 67-year-old man died after allegedly drinking toilet cleaning liquid, mistaking it for liquor, while attending a wedding in Pauri Garhwal district on Monday, police said on Tuesday.

Inspector Amarjeet Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Pauri Kotwali police station, said, "Bhagwan Singh, a resident of Jamla village, was already intoxicated when he mistakenly drank the toilet cleaner, which was kept in a plastic water bottle."

The SHO added, "After falling ill, he was rushed to the hospital but succumbed during treatment on Monday. Following the postmortem examination, the body was handed over to his family."
