65-year-old US man found dead in Bhimtal hotel room

NAINITAL: A 65-year-old man from the US was found dead in a hotel room in Bhimtal. Stephen Daniel, a resident of New Jersey, was residing in the hotel since May 30. No signs of struggle were found in the room and it is believed that he died four days ago.
Pramod Pathak, station house officer, Bhimtal police station, said, “The body was found on the bed by the hotel staff and is at least four days old.The room was locked from the inside. The cause of death is not clear yet.”
After the news of the American’s death spread, senior police officers of the district and the sub-divisional magistrate visited the Greenwood hotel.
The body is in a mortuary and the district police has informed the US embassy. Police department said that the staff of the hotel was being questioned.
Ajay Kumar, manager of the hotel, said, “We are cooperating with police on the case.”
