DEHRADUN: The court of additional judicial magistrate sentenced three lab technicians to three years in jail each after finding them guilty of issuing a fake report to a patient without examining the blood sample.
The incident is of 2016. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,500 on each of the convicts. On August 12, 2016, Dr. Seema Avtar, chief managing director of Synergy Hospital, lodged an FIR at Garhi Cantt police station alleging that her employee Anil Painyuli, who works at Charak pathology, had made a fake report of a patient, Prerna Pant (28), by using an ID of another patient Mohit (11).
Dr Avtar is also the director of Charak pathology.
The forgery was caught when Pant reached the hospital to collect her report. During investigation, the police found that Painyuli along with his accomplices lab technician Ajay Rana and data entry operation Sanjay Rawat had generated the fake report.
The prosecution argued that a fake test report could put the patient's life at risk.
After examining evidence and hearing arguments the court found the trio guilty under sections 420 (cheating) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and sentenced them to three years in jail.
