DEHRADUN: With heavy rains causing rise in water levels of rivers, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) has issued letters to the district magistrates of Pithoragarh, Nainital and Haridwar and asked them to remain alert.
The revenue sub-inspectors, gram vikas adhikari and gram panchayat adhikari in each district have been directed to remain in their areas and ensure that their mobile phones are turned on round the clock.
While the Badhganga river’s level has been rising in Haridwar, the Dhauliganga has been swelling in Pithoragarh and Kosi river in Nainital is flowing in spate.
Authorities of these districts have been asked to “immediately inform state authorities in case of any emergency or untoward incident”. All police stations and police outposts have been told to remain on “high-alert mode”. Officials have been directed to keep raincoats, helmets, torches and other essential equipment in their vehicles.
