MUSSOORIE: A three-day food festival commenced at Winterline Carnival on Friday. Over the years, this festival has emerged as a major highlight at the carnival.
It features a wide range of food stalls that showcase authentic cuisine as well as food products from Uttarakhand. It is being organised by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board and the district administration in association with
TOI.
The festival, being held at the Mall Road was inaugurated by cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi along with the chairperson of Mussoorie Municipal Council, Meera Saklani, sub-divisional magistrate, of Mussoorie, Rahul Anand and Sandeep Sahni of Uttarakhand Hotel Association among others.
Pankaj Agarwal, who has been showcasing authentic Garhwali cuisine for a lot of years at the festival, said, “This food festival helps preserve our traditional recipes and also introduces them to a wider audience.”
Another food stall participant, Sandeep Gupta, said, “This festival was a platform to present the real taste of Uttarakhand to tourists. Many visitors taste these dishes for the first time, and it is a great opportunity to showcase our cuisine to a massive audience “
Anubhav Sapra, food explorer and founder of Delhi Food Walks, will be present at the event to lead culinary demonstrations, discussions as well as food storytelling sessions.
Sapra said, “I’m very excited to be part of this festival. The state has an incredible food heritage that deserves greater recognition, and events like this will help bring local flavours and food stories to the forefront.”
The festival will also host a food bloggers’ meet, bringing together food writers and creators to amplify the state’s culinary identity.
