Dehradun: Two first-year BPharma students at a private university in Dehradun were killed on Tuesday after their motorbike hit a roadside tree in the Rajpur area, police said.
Dev Kumar, 22, a native of Bihar, was riding the bike while Pronit Biswas, 19, a native of Nagaland, was riding pillion. Police said the bike was speeding and veered onto the wrong side of the road before hitting the tree.
Rajpur SHO Pradeep Pant said the two students were living in rented accommodation in Rajpur while attending their college on Mussoorie Road. "Passers-by spotted the injured students and informed police. They were rushed to a nearby hospital," he said.
Doctors declared Kumar brought dead. Biswas was admitted and treated but later succumbed to his injuries, Pant added. Officials informed the families of both students. "Their family members reached Dehradun on Wednesday. The bodies were handed over to them after the postmortem examination," the SHO said.
