Rudrapur: Two alleged arms traffickers were arrested and a cache of illegal weapons seized during a joint operation by Udham Singh Nagar police and the STF (Kumaon unit) in Jaspur on Tuesday, police said.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the team intercepted Shamsher Singh of Hajiro village and Simrandeep Singh of Anjaniya Farm near Patarampur underpass on Jaspur service road and took them into custody.
Police said two illegal .32 bore pistols with 10 live cartridges, along with two 12-bore pump-action guns, were seized from their vehicle. The car used in the alleged smuggling has also been impounded.
SSP Ajay Ganpati said a case has been registered under the Arms Act. "We are running a drive against illegal arms and criminal networks," he said.
