10 on way to temple dead as SUV falls into gorge

Pithoragarh: Ten people on their way to a temple died after their Bolero SUV fell into a 500 m deep gorge on Hokra-Nachani road in Pithoragarh’s Munsyari on Thursday morning.Disaster management officer Bhupendra Singh Mahar said, “The vehicle was on its way to Kokila Devi temple in Hokra, but it met with an accident 1 km before reaching its destination. All ten people, including the driver, in the vehicle died. Police launched a rescue operation along with a team from the SDRF. All bodies were recovered after five hours and sent for autopsy. The bodies were handed over to their families.”
