DEHRADUN: Five people were killed and seven others were injured as a jeep fell into a gorge in Chamoli district on Thursday afternoon.
After initial treatment at the primary health centre of Pokhari, Chamoli district, the injured have been referred to
Karnprayag
community health centre.
The mishap took place around 1.30 pm when a jeep coming from Pokhari and going towards Harishankar fell into the gorge when the driver seems to have lost control over the vehicle near
Ganiyala
village.
A police team with the help of local residents conducted the rescue operation. Police said that the reason behind the mishap was still unclear.
The deceased have been identified as
Sawar Singh
, 60, Hari Singh, 77,
Ashadi Devi
, 63, Ghoom Singh, 29, and Basi Devi, 30. All the five deceased were from Chamoli district and were going toward Harishankar.
