7 out of 398 pass written test to qualify for interview to recruit 35 dist judges

Cuttack: Only seven out a total of 398 candidates have cleared the written test held on November 5, 2023 and qualified for the interview for 35 posts of district judges through direct recruitment from the Bar and from among judicial officers.According to official records, the Orissa high court had invited applications from law graduates with a minimum of seven years’ practice as advocates and judicial officers having not less than five years of experience in the cadre of civil judge (senior division) for the written test. Candidates aged not below 35 years and not above 45 years were eligible to apply for the posts.After the scrutiny of applications, 326 candidates were found eligible to appear for the written test for direct recruitment from the Bar for 23 posts. Another 72 candidates were found eligible from among judicial officers to take the limited competitive examination for 12 posts.A notification issued by the registrar (examination) S K Dash Ray said five candidates, four of them women, have cleared the written examination for direct recruitment from the Bar. Only two candidates, one woman, have qualified in the written examination for recruitment from among judicial officers, read the notification issued on December 21, a copy of which was made available on Monday.Candidates being called for the interview are expected to have secured a minimum 50% marks in aggregate in the two written papers with not less than 45% in each paper. For direct recruitment from the Bar, candidates had to write two papers of 100 marks each while judicial officers had to appear for two papers of 75 marks each. Each paper was of two hours.

Government issues directions to boost promotions of eligible officers with disabilities

The Centre has decided to grant notional promotion to persons with disabilities eligible for promotion from June 30, 2016. This decision ensures that these officers will receive financial benefits when they assume their new positions. Ministries and departments will create supernumerary posts to accommodate eligible officials and maintain seniority for others. The Department of Personnel and Trainings (DoPT) has issued instructions for reservation in promotion, providing 4% reservation for persons with disabilities in various categories. The DoPT memorandum states that persons with disabilities will be considered for reservation in promotion up to the lowest rung of Group A, subject to eligibility conditions.

Guv for judicial probe into PSC paper leak case

Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has asked the Congress government to inform the DoPT about the resignations of TSPSC chairman Janardhan Reddy and other board members. She also suggested a judicial probe into the paper leaks. The file sent by President Droupadi Murmu is pending with the DoPT regarding the TSPSC issue. The Raj Bhavan will accept the resignations after the state government informs its position to the DoPT. The previous BRS regime has not replied to the file.

Pakistan electoral body approves nomination papers of 6449 candidates for general elections

Pakistan's electoral body approved nomination papers for 6,449 candidates, including 6,094 men and 355 women, for national assembly seats. The papers of 1,024 candidates, including Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, were rejected. The nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Shehbaz Sharif, and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari were approved. Those whose nomination papers were rejected can appeal the decision.
