Two held in Cuttack for selling fake medicines

The commissionerate police on Monday arrested two persons in Cuttack for allegedly selling fake medicines meant for heart ailments and high blood pressure. The two have been identified as Rahul Kyal (27) and Sanjay Jalan (52). "The two are residents of Cantonment area and were selling fake medicines to various retailers in the state," said Pinak Mishra, DCP, Cuttack.

"During investigation, we came to know about their involvement and they have confessed that they were selling fake medicines," Mishra said, adding, "The medicines were procured from Bihar and Bengaluru."
"A police team will visit other states for further probe. Those who were procuring medicines from them will also be brought under the investigation," Mishra said.
On Friday, a team of directorate of drugs control conducted a raid on the premises of two medicine stockists in Manighosh Bazaar and Jaunliapati,under Purighat police station limits, for allegedly selling fake medicines. Samples were collected and sent for laboratory tests.
