Sharpshooter of gangsters DS brothers arrested

CUTTACK: A sharp shooter of gangster Sushant and Sushil Dhal Samant was arrested by police on Thursday. The accused was identified as Penta aka Suvendu Das. Acting on a tip off, police arrested Suvendu from Chauliaganj area. Police said Penta is a history sheeter and has several cases pending against him at Bidanasi and Chauliaganj police stations. Police said along with DS brothers, Penta also played a pivotal role in the killing of Om Swain and Dipu Mallick, the two henchmen of DS brothers who were killed in 2013.
"He(Penta) was involved in abduction and also killing of Dipu and Om,"said DCP (Cuttack) Sanjeev Arora. Penta was working with the DS brothers since 2010 and mainly handled the extortion business of the gang. It is important to mention that Dipu and Om, who worked as shooters for DS brothers,had started their parallel extortion and tender fixing business and enraged by it the gangster siblings had beaten both of them to death. Police so far have arrested eight associates of DS brothers and manhunt is on to nab at least 31 more.Police have prepared a list of 39 close associates of the DS brothers who managed their criminal activities in Odisha.
