Probe into death of Lakra’s friend: HC drops contempt proceedings

Cuttack: The Orissa HC on Friday dropped contempt proceedings in a case of alleged non-compliance regarding “re-investigation” by the CID-Crime Branch into supposed involvement of former international hockey player Birendra Lakra in the death of his friend Anand Toppo.
The HC dropped proceedings arising out of the contempt petition filed by Anand’s father Bandhna Toppo after CID-CB inspector general (IG) Shefeen Ahamad appeared in person and submitted a status report on the re-investigation.
