HC: Plea invalid without an FIR

Cuttack: The Orissa high court on Monday, while hearing a petition seeking direction for a crime branch probe into the death of Sundargarh assistant collector, Susmita Minj, last year, opined that the petition cannot be taken as valid since no FIR was registered by the police on Sandeep Minj’s, her brother who filed the petition, complaint lodged over nine months ago.However, the court has posted the petition to September 3, giving Sandeep time till then to approach the police station concerned for registration of a case on his complaint.Susmita’s body was found floating in a pond in Rourkela on September 19 last year. tnn
