CUTTACK: Justice M M Das commission, probing into the
multi-crore chit fund scam
, has started the process for identification of investors duped by
chit fund companies GLP Developers Limited and Golden Land Developers Limited.
The move came in response to recent direction of Orissa high court. Both the companies, which are operated by same management, have filed petition in the high court expressing their willingness to repay money to their investors. Both the companies have cited that at least Rs 100 crore of their movable and immovable properties have been attached by the state government. Hence they have prayed high court to allow them to sell their property so that they can arrange money and refund it to the investors at the earliest.
Taking cognizance of the petition, the high court has directed M M Das commission to identify the investors duped by the two companies and submit a report within two months.
“We have issued notification in newspapers asking people, who had invested in these two companies, to file affidavits in a specific format about their investments with necessary documents. People can submit these affidavits at the six branch offices of Golden Land Developers and GLP functioning in the state and we will collect it,” said secretary of the commission, Devraj Rout. The last date for filing the affidavits is February 20.
The six branch offices of GLP and Golden Land Developers are located in Khurda, Ganjam,Gajapati and Kalahandi district. The commission will collect the affidavits and verify it and will accordingly submit a report about it in the high court.
