Cuttack: Manas Barik, who was under observation after undergoing the first successful liver transplantation in SCB Medical College and Hospital a month ago, was discharged on Saturday.
The 45-year-old patient, a resident of Tigiria area of Cuttack, a driver by profession, was suffering from a liver disease following jaundice. SCB had advised a liver transplant.
Barik’s wife Rashmita volunteered to donate a portion of her liver, an SCB official said.
After necessary tests of both donor and recipient, on April 3 this year, the procedure was conducted at SCB. TNN
