Court can't enter policy domain: High court on names of political parties
The Delhi High Court refuses to intervene in the petition seeking de-registration of political parties with caste, religious, ethnic, or linguistic connotations. The petitioner's request includes reviewing political parties with such connotations, ensuring they don't use a flag similar to the national flag, and de-registering them if they fail to comply within three months. The court emphasizes that the name of political parties is not the determining factor for voters, and urges consideration of their policies and functioning. The court states that these issues fall within the domain of Parliament and that they make the laws. The government chooses not to respond to the plea, and the matter is scheduled for further hearing in May next year.
