HC to hear company’s plea on Mar 14 on clearing of forest land

Cuttack: The Orissa high court has fixed March 14 for considering JSW Energy Ltd’s plea seeking extension of the time for execution of its order for the removal of all structures and machinery of the thermal power plant on encroached forest land in Jharsuguda district by three more months. The two-judge bench of Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh and Justice M S Raman fixed the date “so as to enable the learned deputy solicitor general of India to seek instructions and address this court”, after hearing submissions of senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi on behalf of JSW Energy Ltd through virtual mode on March 7.On August 14, 2023, the high court had ordered clearing up of encroached forest land under Lakhanpur tehsil within 15 days on a PIL regarding construction undertaken by Ind Barath Energy Utkal Limited (IBEUL) in 2014. Electoral bonds: Supreme Court to hear SBI's plea seeking extension of time to disclose details on March 11

The Supreme Court will hear SBI's application to extend the deadline for disclosing details of electoral bonds. The court will also address a contempt plea against SBI for disobeying the order to submit bond details. The Supreme Court will hear SBI's application seeking extension till June 30 to disclose details of electoral bonds encashed by political parties. Contempt action has been sought against SBI for wilfully and deliberately disobeying the court's direction. The ruling on February 15 scrapped the Centre's electoral bonds scheme.

Court Summons Kejriwal On March 16 After ED Plea

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been summoned by a court in a money laundering case. The court found sufficient grounds to proceed against Kejriwal for non-attendance in obedience to an order from a public servant. Kejriwal has been accused of sending frivolous replies and avoiding the investigation.
