HC grants interim protection from arrest to Ravi Sharma

<binita.jaiswal@gmail.com>CUTTACK: Orissa High Court on Tuesday granted interim protection from arrest to Ravi Sharma, head of the news portal which had allegedly<br />conducted sting operation on four BJD MLAs. Hearing to the anticipatory bail plea filed by Sharma, the court ordered that he cannot be arrested till further orders. Meanwhile, the court has also directed police to submit case diary in the matter. <br /><br />Last month, a regional news channel had aired a sting operation in which four BJD MLAs Seemarani Nayak (Hindol) Susant Behera (Chhendipada), Bijay Nayak (Karanjia) and Anam Nayak (Bhawanipatna) were seen demanding money from an industrialist in lieu of providing him facilities for setting up industries in the state. The issue had created much furore in the state and subsequently chief minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered a vigilance probe into the incident.<br /></binita.jaiswal@gmail.com>
