Extortion: Contractor lodges complaint against gangsters

Cuttack: A civil contractor on Tuesday lodged a fresh FIR against the gangster brothers Sushant and Sushil Dhal Samant for extorting money from him. With this the total number of cases against the gangster siblings has increased to 18. A special class contractor, Susanta Kumar Swain, lodged a complain at Markat Nagar police station alleging that Dhal Samant brothers have allegedly extorted over Rs 15 lakh from him in January this year.
Swain in his complain has also mentioned that name of an associate of Dhal Samant's Tapan Routray.He has alleged that Routray threatened him at the behest of the gangsters duo. "Tapan is on the run and efforts are on to nab him," said DCP (Cuttack) Sanjeev Arora.
In another development, two notorious criminals Ashok Panda and Balram Barik wre arrested by police on Tuesday from Cuttack Sadar area. The duo was wanted in cases like extortion, arms act and attempt to murder. Both of them were active in Sadar area. A pistol and a live bullet have been recovered from them.
