Cuttack MLA demands probe into Baliyatra ‘graft’

Cuttack: Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammed Moquim on Sunday demanded a probe into the alleged financial irregularities that took place during the nine-day-long maritime fair, Baliyatra, that concluded on December 5.Moquim claimed that a tender of Rs 32 lakh was awarded for erecting two welcome gates — one at Judicial Academy Chhak and another on NH 16 near Phul Nakhara area - at the fair. “While seeing the gates, it’s clearly visible how public money was siphoned off. The two gates at the most cost up to Rs 2 lakh. Thus, a probe must be initiated immediately or an agitation would be launched if no stern action is taken against those involved in the scam,” Moquim said.When asked, Cuttack Municipal Corporation mayor Subhash Singh denied the allegations and said, “No money has been given to anyone. We have formed a five-member committee to examine the allegations and will submit the report soon.”

The Indian Institute of Science, IISc Bengaluru has announced the schedule for the GATE 2024 Examination. The exams will be held from February 03 to 11, 2024 in two sessions. The exam pattern includes multiple choice questions, multiple select questions, and numerical answer type questions. The marking scheme includes negative marking for wrong answers to multiple choice questions.
