Cuttack: Six-time MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, who is contesting on a
BJP ticket from the Cuttack parliamentary seat this time, filed his nomination papers on Friday.
Mahtab, who resigned from the BJD after he was denied a ticket for Cuttack Lok Sabha seat and joined the BJP, said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done a lot for this country and I am the representative of his party.
Cuttack will definitely vote for development and progress which have been done by the Modi govt only.”
Minati Patnaik from Samruddha Odisha Party also filed her nomination for the Cuttack parliamentary seat.
On the other hand, Congress candidate for Barabati-Cuttack assembly seat and daughter of sitting MLA Mohammad Moquim, Sofia Firdous, filed her nomination without any rally.
Sofia said, “We didn’t want to put our workers, members and supporters in trouble in this scorching heat. They were all asked to stay at home and so we had no procession. I came with my father in a car and filed my nomination papers.”
BJD nominee Souvic Biswal, Nayan Kishore Mohanty of BJP, Mata Mallik of Congress and an independent candidate Ranjit Mallick filed their nomination papers for the Choudwar-Cuttack assembly seat in the sub-collector’s office on Friday.
BJD candidate Chandra Sarathi Behera and Prakash Chandra Sethi of BJP also filed their nominations for the Cuttack Sadar assembly constituency.
