Coimbatore: A youth has been arrested for stealing biometric devices and other items from a Coimbatore corporation ward office at Pullukadu.
Police said S Gowtham, 23, of Mariyamman Kovil Street near Kuniyamuthur broke open the door of the corporation office in ward 86 on Sunday night and stole biometric devices, a fingerprint device, an electric vehicle charger, a vehicle lifting jacky and a fibre connection device.
On Monday morning, a supervisor of sanitation workers found the items missing and informed the corporation south zone assistant commissioner Dakshinamoorthy, who lodged a complaint with the Bazaar police on Monday. Police registered a case. During investigations, it was found that Gowtham had entered the office and stolen the property.
He was arrested on Monday evening and remanded in judicial custody.
