Arunkumar was under the influence of alcohol and tried to pick up a quarrel with Ramar. Ramar went to another shed to sleep, however Arunkumar followed him there and snatched Ramar’s pillow and stopped him from sleeping. This led to a fist fight and at a point Arunkumar punched on Ramar’s face. In a fit of rage, Ramar pushed Arunkumar down. Arunkumar suffered injuries on his head and became unconscious
Other workers took Arunkumar to the Palladam government hospital where doctors declared that he was brought dead. Following the postmortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to the family members on Saturday afternoon.
Negamam police inspector D Vetrivelrajan registered a case against Ramar under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him on Saturday evening. Ramar was later remanded in judicial custody.
