Young Indians
(Yi) Coimbatore,
Erode
, Tirupur and
Salem
chapters will jointly host a three-day
youth conclave
here from December 16 to 18. Energy will be the theme for the conclave.
“This is the second time that the conclave is being held in Coimbatore. It was last held in 2011,” said the past national chairman of Yi,
Shankar Vanavarayar
. The conclave was held once in Chennai.
“Yi organises four such conclaves every year. The first one is held in New Delhi in March during the leadership change. This time, the Kongu region has been given the opportunity to host the conclave,” said the
Yi Coimbatore
chapter’s co-chair, S Prasanna Krishna.
There are 40 chapters across India with more than 2,500 members. “We are expecting around 500 participants from across all the chapters,” Vanavarayar said.
The conclave will not have any formal inauguration and will kick off with sports activities at the
Kumaraguru College of Technology
in Saravanampatti.
“The first day will be filled with sports activities so that youngsters can mingle and get to know each other well. There will be cricket, tennis, football, archery, kabaddi, zorbing, fencing, carnival games, tug –of-war and cycling,” Prasanna Krishna said.
The second day of the conclave will begin with a treasure hunt kind of an event to familiarise the participants with the city’s industries, entrepreneurs and culture. “Participants will have their breakfast and push off in cars and will be handed out clues to find their destiny. They will, in their journey, get to meet some of Coimbatore’s entrepreneurs, get a feel of the city’s
culture and heritage
,” he added.
To organise this activity, Yi has sought support from PSG Institutions. “The faculty and students of the institutions will analyse the logistics for us and will come out with a plan,” Shankar Vanavarayar said.
The afternoon session on the second day will have back-to-back talks by leading entrepreneurs and personalities across the nation. “The third day will be an interest-based experiential journey as the participants will go for shopping, bird watching and spiritual activities. They will explore nature, art and heritage in the city and enjoy the local cuisine,” Vanavarayar said.
Non- Yi members can also take part in the conclave on the second day of the summit to hear speakers from across the country.
