Woman, teenaged girl die by suicide near Tiruchengode

NAMAKKAL: In two separate incidents, a woman and a teenaged girl died by suicide near Tiruchengode in Namakkal district. Both of their eyes were harvested after their relatives gave consent to donating them.

One of the deceased has been identified as C Sivaganga, 22, of Akkamapalayam, who was a BSc graduate. She was working in a private garment factory in Perundurai. Her father, Chandrasekaran, 55, is an agricultural labourer while her mother, Thavamani, 48, is a homemaker.

Sivaganga was found hanging from the roof of her grandparents’ house near her home on Tuesday. She used a dupatta to hang herself when her grandparents were not at home. The reason for her suicide was not known. The Molasi police began investigations.

R Nakshatra, 18, daughter of Ramesh and Deepa of Vettuvapalayam near Tiruchengode, killed herself by consuming pesticide. Nakshatra was depressed as she could not pass the Class XII CBSE exams even in her second attempt.

She consumed pesticide on May 13 after knowing her Class XII result. She was admitted to Tiruchengode Government Hospital where she died on Wednesday.
