Woman hacked to death by paramour

COIMBATORE: A 35-year-old married woman was hacked to death using a sickle by her lover at Ponaiyur near Pollachi on Wednesday morning. The deceased woman was identified as Sulojana Devi, wife of a local barber Paramasivam. The couple has a 4-year-old son.
According to police, Sulochana Devi worked at a carton manufacturing company at Ayyan Palayam where she had an extra marital relationship with her colleague Boopathy (32).Since they used to have intercourse during work hours, the management terminated Boopathy. They allowed Sulojana Devi to continue in her job.
When he lost his job, Boopathy began to harass Sulojana Devi. Unable to withstand the torture, she filed a complaint against him with the all-women police station in Pollachi. This fuelled Boopathy's anger further. He hid himself behind a bush near Sulojana's house with sickle, attempting to kill her when she left for her job. When she neared the bush where he was hiding, he came out and hacked her to death. She was brought dead to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
Boopathy, who had fled the scene was later found in a pool of blood as he attempted to commit suicide himself. He is now recovering at a Pollachi hospital.
Paramasivam was on pilgrimage to Tirupathi when the incident occurred.
