Wild elephant tramples man, 27, to death

Coimbatore: A wild elephant trampled a 27-year-old man to death near Bhavanisagar reservoir in Sirumugai on Tuesday night.
The deceased, S Naveenkumar of Viscose Colony at Sirumugai, was found dead on the banks of the dam’s backwaters on Wednesday morning.
“He had reached the backwaters with three friends on Tuesday night. They noticed the elephant while having drinks.His friends managed to escape, but Naveenkumar, who was heavily drunk, could not. The elephant trampled him to death. The body was found 2km away from the reserve forest of Pethikuttai forest beat,” a forest department official said.TNN
