Two-wheeler rider dies, 20 omnibus passengers suffer injuries in accident near Perundurai
ERODE: A two-wheeler rider died and 20 people suffered injuries when an omnibus overturned near Perundurai on the Coimbatore-Salem National Highway in the early hours of Thursday.
The driver applied the brake and swerved the omnibus to avoid hitting the two-wheeler. A govt bus that was behind it rammed the omnibus. In the impact, the omnibus overturned.
Two-wheeler rider S Kuppan, 65, of Perundurai died on the spot.
The injured 20 omnibus passengers were shifted to Erode Government Medical College and Hospital in Perundurai.
The passengers and the crew of the govt bus escaped unhurt.
The Perundurai police were investigating.
