Two SDPI functionaries arrested for defaming PM
Coimbatore: The rural police on Monday arrested two SDPI functionaries for defaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a rally held in Mettupalayam on January 26 in support of protesting farmers in New Delhi.
The arrested has been identified as K Mohammed Nowfal, 33, from Odanthurai in Mettupalayam and J Zubair Ali, 40, from SM Nagar in Mettupalayam. While Nowfal is the district general secretary of SDPI, Zubair is Mettupalayam town president of the party. They were remanded in judicial custody on Monday and lodged at the Avinashi sub-jail.
