K Arun Kumar of Pattukottaiyar Nagar was found murdered with cut injuries. He was working in a knitwear unit. He did not return home after going out on January 17. His corpse was found in the bushes in Velliyangadu on Sunday. The Tirupur south police registered a case.

Investigations found that Arun was murdered over previous enmity. M Muniappan, 49, of Pattukottaiyar Nagar was working as a temporary sanitary worker in the city corporation. Arun had hit him in a quarrel a few weeks ago. In a separate incident, Arun's mother had also quarreled with Muniappan's family, a police officer said.

Muniappan along with Gajendran, 40, a permanent sanitary worker in the corporation, and Muniappan's son Prem Kumar and Gajendran's relative John planned to eliminate Arun. Prem and John were friends of Arun, and they asked him to meet them on Friday night at Velliyangadu, where all of them murdered him. Muniappan and Gajendran were arrested while the other two accused are absconding.
