COIMBATORE: City police on Monday arrested Tirupur residents S Vijayakumar and P Udayaprakash for their involvement in the counterfeit currency case.
Though they were not involved in printing or marketing the currency, the duo had assisted the gang in many ways, a police officer said. “They had arranged the printer, computer, photocopy machine and other gadgets required for duplicating the currency notes,” he said, adding that they were remanded in judicial custody.
Police had arrested B Ananth of Maruthakonar Street at Velandipalayam with four fake currency notes in the denomination of Rs 2,000 on June 2.
They also seized fake currency with a face value of Rs 1.18 crore from the house he was staying. Police later arrested S Kithar Mohammed and R Sundar, who were part of the gang. TNN
