Two held over history sheeter’s murder

Salem: Police on Saturday arrested two people in connection with a history sheeter’s murder.
K Ranjith Kumar, 30, of Masinaickenpatty, a history sheeter who was out with his friends on Wednesday night did not return home. His wife Priya, 29, then lodged a complaint with Ammapet police in the city following which a ‘man missing’ case was registered and a search launched. Later on Friday, Ranjith Kumar’s body was recovered near a Vediappan temple in Udayapatti. Police then altered the case to murder and initiated an inquiry.
During inquiry, it came to light that K Mahendran, 27, of Dadagapatty and his friend S Pugalendhi, 30, of Sankari were behind the murder.
Police said, one of Ranjith Kumar’s relatives attempted to have an illicit affair with his wife Priya, following which Ranjith warned his relative. “The relative then hired two people to murder Ranjith Kumar,” police said, adding a search is on for the accused. The arrested duo has been sent to judicial custody and lodged at the Salem central prison. TNN
