Man kills wife, dies by suicide in Tirupur

Coimbatore: A 40-year-old man murdered his wife over a family dispute at Karaipudur near Palladam in Tirupur district on Tuesday and later ended his life by suicide. The deceased were identified as S Silambarasan, and his wife S Akilandeswari, 30, from Dharmapuri district. Palladam police said the couple was running Sri Ranga Broilers, a chicken shop on Lakshmi Nagar Four Road at Karaipudur in Tirupur district. They also used to sell biryani and fried chicken at the shop and were residing in the same premises. The incident came to light when Silambarasan's younger brother Manikandan went to their house on Tuesday morning. He found his brother dead by suicide and his sister-in-law in a pool of blood, with stab injuries on her palms, left elbow, and back. He also found the couple's daughter Vinaya, 10, sleeping in another room. Manikandan said the deceased couple's son Vignesh, 9, had come to his home on Monday, so he had gone to his brother's place to collect Vignesh's school bag, when he found them dead and alerted police. Preliminary inquiry revealed that Silambarasan, who was addicted to alcohol, often fought with his wife. "He suspected his wife's character and frequently quarreled with her," said a police officer from Palladam station. He added that Silambarasan had stabbed his wife to death with a knife at the chicken shop and dragged her body into the room where they lived. Police shifted the bodies to the Tirupur Govt Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. Palladam police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
