NAMAKKAL: A 30-year-old man climbed the 1,300 steps of the Sri Arthanareeswarar hill temple in Tiruchengode in Namakkal district on Thursday doing a push-up on each step to inspire the youth to engage in sports and exercise.
S Prakash of Suriyampalayam near Tiruchengode said, “Many youths are spoiling their health in the name of celebrations. I did push-ups while climbing the steps to encourage youths to engage in sports and exercise.”
He took the first push-up in the name of Lord Shiva after offering prayers. He finished the task in one and a half hours and worshiped at the temple.
M Ramesh of Tiruchengode, who had climbed the steps in the same manner for six years from 2018 to 2024, accompanied Prakash extending support to him.
