COIMBATORE: Three men were arrested on Wednesday for stealing 79 grams of gold from a

goldsmith

The accused have been identified as Sakthivel S (47), a resident of Kurungi Colony in Selvapuram, Jandu R (28), a resident of Edayar Street, and Dev Kumar (28), a resident of Postal Colony, Perur.

The complainant, C R Murali, runs a jewellery making unit at Chinna Ellai Sandu in Sukrawarpet. He had kept two gold ingots, one weighing 49grams and the other weighing 30grams, inside his office table’s drawer.

When Murali stepped out of his shop around 6pm on Tuesday, the three men entered the shop and stole the gold ingots. Murali filed a complaint with the R S Puram police on Tuesday. The police registered a case.

Based on leads from investigation, the police nabbed the accused on Wednesday morning. The accused were remanded in judicial custody.
