Tasmac bar owner, wife, aides booked for assaulting pvt firm staffer in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: The Saibaba Colony on Saturday night registered a case against a Tasmac bar owner, his wife and accomplices for assaulting a 37-year-old man working with a private marketing firm.
A police officer said they booked the bar owner, Karuppasamy, his wife Sagunthala and their associates based on a complaint lodged by J Balaji, 37, of Podanur, who was working with a private marketing firm owned by a person who was said to be close to the ruling party leaders.
The officer said the marketing firm was in the habit of collecting large sums of money from Tasmac and private bar owners every month by putting pressure on them through various sources.
"On Saturday evening, Karuppasamy, his wife and associates went to the office of the private marketing firm at Saibaba Colony and argued with Balaji for collecting money from Tasmac bar owners. The argument turned into an ugly fight, and Karuppasamy and team assaulted Balaji with their hands and chairs. They also threatened him with dire consequences," the officer said.
When alerted, the Saibaba Colony police rushed to the spot and pacified the bar owner and his accomplices. Based on Balaji's complaint, they also registered a case against Karuppasamy, Sagunthala and a few others for trespassing into the private firm's office, assaulting him and criminally intimidating him.
