Tamil Nadu needs major political change: Delhi CM

Coimbatore: Stressing that women's empowerment must take priority over political restructuring, Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday said the focus should be on implementing 33% reservation for women rather than the delimitation exercise."What is more important than delimitation is ensuring 33% reservation for women from 2029. We have given this assurance to the women across the country," she said while campaigning for BJP candidate Vanathi Srinivasan in Coimbatore North constituency. Accompanied by NDA leaders and Vanathi's second son Kailash, Gupta campaigned at Venkatapuram on Thadagam Road. She appealed the voters to support BJP and vote for the lotus symbol. Addressing the public, Gupta said while the country was progressing steadily under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu was lagging in development. "People in Tamil Nadu are also seeking this growth. A major political change is needed, and NDA will secure victory in the state." She described Vanathi as a capable leader who enjoys strong public support and predicted a decisive win. Earlier, Gupta visited Vanathi, who has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital since April 10, and wished her a speedy recovery after offering prayers at Tirupati.
