Supper theatre warms Coimbatore
It’s time to loosen up a little and take a mid-week break as the city is all set to witness a concoction of three interesting plays, today and tomorrow. This supper theatre will be a spicy mix of fine dining and drama, meant for the audience to unwind.
KV Siddhartha, member of the city’s art and theatre society, says, “The idea of having three small plays with a different cast was that no one gets bogged down by pressure, but at the same time, can keep the audience in rapture.

We wanted to make it a very informal affair and hence, zeroed in on three separate acts, instead of one lengthy affair. We had organized a supper theatre in Coimbatore early this year and the turnout was pretty good. Hence, we decided to wind up the year with another.”
The evening will have three shows about couples from the stable - A Matter of Husbands,(an adaptation of a play written by Ferenc Molnar) a one-act play about how a simple woman confronts a well-known actress, who is having an affair with her husband; Death by Scrabble, (an adaptation of a story penned by Charlie Fish) in which a detestable husband figures that he can kill his wife, simply by playing scrabble with her; and Wrong Number, an episode from The Carol Burnett tele-show, about a middle-aged woman, who suspects her husband of having an affair.
Chanda Khaturia, one of the lead actresses of the play, enthuses, “Those who come for the show can look forward to a great package of good food and good theatre, which doesn’t happen in the city, on a regular basis. The plays are interesting, laced with humour and will be a de-stressing mantra for the worn out souls after work."
