News papers not comprehending building failure mechanism blame the building failure on rain. The roof slab overhangs 8 feet from the building. The3 article says there were no columns at the free end of the slab. It is amazing the roof slab did not come down all these years. Newsmen did not clarify if rain water ponded over the roof, whether the roof slab is an extension of the building or added later, whether the the steel in the slab was placed close to the top or in the middle or bottom of the slab, whether the concrete mix was as per design. The answers to above questions can decide if the structural engineer was at fault. .Read allPost comment
