COIMBATORE: Corporation commissioner M Prathap, who inspected smart city projects on Monday, instructed the contractors to complete works on time.

The commissioner inspected works carried out at

Valankulam

and

Periyakulam

at a cost of 67.86 crore and 62.17 crore respectively, before meeting the contractors. He told them to complete the projects within the stipulated time. “The works taken up under the smart city projects should be superior in design, technology and quality. The projects should be completed on time without expecting time extension,” he said.

Prathap also inspected the site on

Addis Street

allocated to construct a knowledge centre at a cost of 2.5 crore. He instructed the contractor to meet the deadline.

The official later checked the toilet buildings in Singanallur bus terminal and urged health officials to improve them. He also checked the quality of food sold in the terminal and instructed officials to ensure that banned plastic materials are not used in the stores.
