Coimbatore: Police have arrested three people, including a woman, in connection with the murder of a 39-year-old man, whose left arm was found in a garbage truck at Thudiyalur on September 15.
South zone IG R
Sudhakar identified the victim as R
Prabhu of Sankarapalayam in Erode district, and an employee of Ole Beauty Parlour on Cross Cut Road in Gandhipuram, who had gone missing on September 14.
A missing case was registered at Kattoor police station based on the complaint from Prabhu’s wife P Shanthi.
After finding the severed arm, police analysed 50 missing cases from Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode and Tirupur and noticed the case in Kattoor police station. “We checked Prabhu’s room at Ganapathy Maa Nagar and lifted fingerprints from a water bottle he used and matched them with the fingerprints retrieved from the severed arm. We formed eight teams, each led by an inspector, to investigate the case. We picked up R
Kavitha, 39, owner of the house, where Prabhu was staying,” the officer said.
Kavitha, who was running a beauty parlour in Saravanampatti, was in a relationship with Prabhu, which had turned sour, Sudhakar said. “She decided to finish him off as he was blackmailing her. She invited Prabhu to her house on the night of September 14 and killed him with the help of her friends R Amul Divakar, 34, of Bannari Kali Amman Temple Road at Ganapathy, an electrician and R Karthick, 28, of Gandhipuram.”
“The accused chopped the body into 12 pieces and threw some of them in a well in Thudiyalur. They discarded an arm in a garbage truck. We have recovered the head and torso and are searching for four missing parts,” the officer added.
