Seven two-wheelers gutted in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: Seven motorcycles parked on the premises of a mansion at Vilankurichi in Coimbatore district caught fire in the early hours of Tuesday.


Personnel from Ganapathy fire service station rushed to the spot and put out the fire. Fix vehicles were charred completely, and two vehicles were damaged partially.

The fire service station received information around 4.25 am. A team from the station reached the spot around 4.31 am put out the fire around 4.41am.

The Kovilpalayam police reached the spot and alerted the scientific officials who also visited the spot. “A passerby noticed the flames coming from Sheela Enclave, a mansion owned by S Hariharan, 50, of Sivaram Nagar at Ganapathy, and contacted the fire service station. Hariharan, a civil engineer, owned the mansion in TVK Nagar which has six rooms where 12 people are staying. On Monday night, seven motorcycles were parked on the premises. The vehicles were damaged in the fire,” said a police officer.

The police, who registered a case, were trying to collect CCTV footage from nearby areas to find out how the motorcycles caught fire.
