Seven supporters of Anbumani arrested for attacking Arul’s car

Salem: The Yethapur police on Wednesday arrested seven supporters of PMK president Anbumani in connection with attack on party MLA R Arul's car and his supporters near Vazhapadi on Tuesday.Similarly, police registered a case against the Salem West MLA and his 40 supporters for involving in the clash. While seven supporters of Ramadoss are undergoing treatment at the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital, two supporters of Anbumani are undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Based on a complaint filed by Arul's supporter Senthil Kumaran, the Yethapur police arrested V Poovizhi Raja, 33, M Vignesh, 35, M Venkatesan, 35, S Saravanan, 30, K Arulmani, 32, V Vimalraj, 22 and S Tamil Selvan, 29. All the arrested accused were from Yethapur and its surrounding villages. They were lodged at the Salem Central prison under judicial custody on Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, Mettur MLA S Sadasivam, Mayilam MLA Sivakumar, and former MLA Ganeshkumar, along with Anbumani supporters, held a protest in front of the district superintendent of police office demanding to register a case against Arul's supporters. SP S Vimala assured that they would register a case and take action. Later, the Vazhapadi police registered a case against 40 people, including Arul. "Police have registered a case under five sections, including attempt to murder and assault with weapons," Sadhasivam said.
