Seven-member burglary gang busted in Tirupur
TIRUPUR: A burglary gang has been busted with the arrest of seven people, one of them a woman, in the city. The gang was reportedly involved in at least seven house break-ins reported in the city over the past couple of months. According to police, the woman was used by other members of the gang to fix the houses to be robbed.

“Gurusakthi and Veera Babu met in Coimbatore Central Prison and they plotted to rob houses together. Sathish Kumar, another history-sheeter, also joined them. Gurusakthi has more than three dozen criminal cases pending against him,” said a senior police officer.
The gang utilised the auto carriage run by Venkatesan at Palavanchipalayam to plan their robberies. “They went from house to house in the pretext of seeking a rental house. Geetha would gather details about locked houses. After making sure that inmates are away, they used to strike at those houses at night,” the officer said.
Police suspect that the gang was involved in at least seven burglary cases reported in Anupparpalayam and a few other police station limits in the city.
