TIRUPUR: AIC-NIFTTEA Incubation Centre for Textiles and Apparels has signed a memorandum of understanding with ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (

CIRCOT

) to promote ‘

Salt

free dyeing technology’ at its regional office in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.

With the technology, salts needed not be utilised for setting dyes on fabrics or yarns. As a result, it will reduce virility of effluents resulted in dyeing process.

The eco-friendly method was developed by Mumbai-based CIRCOT which has already successfully tested in woven fabrics, and now it wanted to take to the knitwear industry.

AIC-NIFTTEA incubation centre, Tirupur, has planned to promote the technology among dyeing units in Tirupur, Erode and Karur.

On Saturday, the CIRCOT's principal scientist ASM Raja has exchanged the MoU signed by its director with S Periasamy, CEO,
